YES ON PROP 5
No matter where we come from, how much is in our wallet, or the color of our skin, we all deserve to live in safe neighborhoods with housing we can actually afford and good-paying jobs that allow us to take care of ourselves and our families.
YES on Prop 5
We’re coming together to pass PROP 5 this November election because it will empower voters in their local communities to fund affordable housing, road repairs, and prepare for natural disasters.
It will reduce the percentage of votes needed to pass bonds from two-thirds down to 55%, making it easier for communities to get the funding needed for new housing and infrastructure.
It’s also really important to know that Prop 5 fixes a rule rigged by billionaires and big corporations to avoid paying their fair share in taxes.
How is Prop 5 different from other housing measures in the past?
It gives control back to voters so we can fund critical improvements to our aging infrastructure, including affordable housing, roads, and other essential emergency services. It lowers the threshold needed to raise funds by 55%.
Don’t I pay enough taxes already?
Prop 5 does not increase taxes. It simply gives local voters and taxpayers more authority to address their local affordable housing and infrastructure needs on their terms.
How do I know the funding will go to affordable housing?
Prop 5 requires strong accountability, transparency, and oversight provisions. It increases local control, so communities will see the results. Voters will know what they’re voting on, can track and hold their local governments accountable for delivering results.
In November, we must come together and vote YES on Prop 5!
